This is probably my first truly successful drink. Though as I’ve learned, I’ve modified it. Now, it has fresher ingredients and is more bourbon-y. Like I do.
Orange, ginger, pear & bourbon
1.5 oz. bourbon
.5 oz. ginger syrup
Juice of 1/2 an orange (2 oz?)
2 pear wedges
Orange and lime slices, for garnish
In shaker, muddle pears and ginger syrup. Add remaining ingredients. Shake and strain over ice. Add garnish.
This drink is flexible when it comes to proportions. Want more orange? Go for it. Want more ginger? Go for it. Want more pear? Go for it. Want more bourbon? YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Ooooo ….THIS is for me
!! Bourbon is my go to whiskey or Old Overholt Rye…and ginger – YES!
Where can I get ginger syrup? May I use agave or corn syrup, and add fresh ginger?
Quentin, I make my own… the recipe is here: http://www.cocktailremedy.net/2011/06/02/staples-ginger-syrup/
