For the most part, making drinks in your kitchen at home doesn’t really require special equipment. But these few items certainly make my life easier.
Chef’n FreshForce Citrus Juicer
I love this thing. The gear-action makes squeezing lemons and limes effortless. And the fruit is so thoroughly juiced when you’re done.
OXO Steel Double Jigger
You’re probably going to want a jigger. One side measures 1 1/2 oz., the standard amount of base liquor in most drinks. The other size measures 1 oz. There are markings for every fraction of an ounce that you’ll need.
A cocktail strainer is nice because it has a spring that fits the top of your mixing glass. When you use it, it only takes one tiny finger to hold the strainer in place.
You are going to want a wooden muddler. I don’t own this particular one, but it seems to be a good choice. There are plastic and metal ones that work, too. But I prefer wood. It just feels better in your hand. Make sure you get one that’s unvarnished. You don’t want any stray chemicals in your drinks.

Nick, I have two cases of mangoes, what shall I do with them?
